TESOL Course is suitable to non-native speakers of English. This Course provides the trainee with the necessary teaching skills required to teach. The course offers a mix of classroom theoretical learning and practical learning. This course can be either taken as a stand-alone course or in conjunction with General English classes if these are required.
TESOL Course is an approved course by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

TESOL Course (Level 4)
Certificate in Teaching English to speakers of other Languages
- Student must be 18 years of age at the time of Application
- Suitable entry permit (Visa/immigration status) to study
- Applicants who do not have English as a first language or who have studied in a country where their language of instructions in the school at primary and secondary level is not English will need to meet one of the following English requirements:
- General or Academic IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0 OR
- TOEFL paper based test (PBT) score of 530 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE) OR
- TOEFL Internet based test (IBT) score of 46 or higher (with a writing score of 20) OR
- University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations OR
- NZCEL: Level 4 with an endorsement of either general, workplace or academic OR
- Pearson Test of English (Academic): PToE (Academic) score of 42 OR
- City & Guilds IESOL: B2 communicator with a score of 42
- An Interview
30 hours (20 hours classroom and 10 hours unsupervised study) per week.
Classes are usually in the afternoon (1:00pm – 5:00pm) Mon – Fri.
TESOL Course offers a mix of classroom theoretical learning and practical learning. The course comprises 42 modules. Overall Students will be introduced:

- To techniques that will improve their ability to be continuously competent practitioners of the subject they will be teaching: English.
The modules includes: English in the world, A short history in the English, Varieties of English, Preparation of a set of teaching material, English Grammar, Learning Vocabulary, Paralinguistic Features, ESL Learning theories, East-West cultural differences, Learner differences & motivation, Age differences in learner, The teacher as an aid, Teaching style/roles, The use of video, Teaching Reading, Songs & Verse, OHP’s, Field Trips, Learners projects, Writing, Listening, English Sounds & pronunciation, Observed lessons, Games, Speaking, Syllabus & course outlines, Authentic Materials, Pictures, Course Books, Group Work, Diagnostic Techniques, The Autonomous Student, Spellings & Punctuation, Internet & Computers, IELTS, TOEFL, The Future of English, Professional Development, Problem Behaviour & Discipline, Placement & Evaluation, Practicum, Dictionary and other reference materials. Student must complete all the course assessments and demonstrate that they can teach effectively to achieve the course.
